Police in Eldoret have launched an investigation into an incident in which an administrative police officer allegedly shot and killed her husband before surrendering to police.
Constable Lillian Biwott, who is attached to the Eldoret branch of the Kenya Bureau of Standards, is said to have shot her husband Victor Kipchumba more than 10 times in the chest and head following a long-running family dispute.
Kipchumba was allegedly murdered by his wife at their rented house in Kimumu along the Eldoret-Iten road on Saturday night.
The suspect is said to have reported for duty before rushing back to her house and after arguing with her husband, shot him dead before surrendering to police.
The family of the deceased, Victor Kipchumba, want investigations to be carried out to establish the cause of his death, while demanding justice.
Confirming the incident, Uasin Gishu County Police Commander Benjamin Mwanthi said they were holding the suspect, who would be arraigned in court.
