Medical findings have confirmed that former Cabinet minister Cyrus Jirongo succumbed to fatal injuries sustained during a road accident in Naivasha last week.

Pathologists who conducted the postmortem examination established that Jirongo died as a result of severe blunt force trauma that caused extensive crush injuries to his chest. The examination was carried out on Wednesday, December 17, at Lee Funeral Home in Nairobi by government pathologist Johansen Oduor together with specialists appointed by the family.

According to the report, the impact of the crash caused catastrophic damage to vital organs. Jirongo suffered multiple broken ribs, a perforated heart, and heavy internal bleeding within the chest cavity. The injuries also extended to the abdominal area, further complicating his condition.

The pathologists also documented several fractures, including two on his right hand and additional breaks on both lower limbs. Doctors noted that the severity and extent of the injuries were unsurvivable.

Family physician Dr Martin Wanyoike said the nature of the trauma left no chance of survival, confirming that the injuries sustained in the crash were immediately fatal.
