
Fresh details have emerged about the final movements of a helicopter that went down in Chepkiep, Mosop Constituency in Nandi County, after making several stopovers across different towns on Saturday.
According to Roads and Transport Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir, the aircraft registration 5Y-DSB began its journey at 11:04am. It first touched down in Emur Dikirr at 11:55am before departing again at 12:20pm. The helicopter then landed in Mararianta at 12:29pm and left at 12:54pm.
The flight continued to Endebes, arriving at 2:04pm and taking off just three minutes later. At 2:29pm, it landed at Eldoret airstrip, departing at 3:07pm and returning to Endebes at 3:41pm. It left again at 3:43pm, later landing in Tabolwa at 4:20pm.
The CS said the aircraft departed Tabolwa at 4:25pm but lost contact moments later. It subsequently crashed in Chepkiep.
Chirchir confirmed that among those who died in the crash were Emur Dikirr MP Johana Ngeno, pilot Captain George Were, Amos Kipngetich Rotich and Nick Koskei, along with other occupants.
Investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing as authorities piece together the events leading up to the tragedy.
