Kanini Kega escaped unharmed after his vehicle was attacked by unknown assailants while returning from a political campaign event in Nyandarua County.
The incident occurred on the night of July 13 after Kega attended a Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) rally in Ol Kalou in support of parliamentary candidate Sammy Douglas Kamau. Reports indicate that the legislator’s convoy was allegedly followed from Ol Kalou before being intercepted at Kasuku Centre in neighbouring Ol Jororok Constituency.
According to preliminary accounts, Kega and his driver abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot moments before the attackers reached them. The assailants reportedly vandalised the vehicle before fleeing the scene.
Police later visited the area and recovered several live rounds near the damaged vehicle, prompting investigations into the circumstances surrounding the attack and the identity of those involved.
