Wambua Appointed New Shujaa Coach.

Mwamba RFC’s Kevin ‘Bling’ Wambua is the new Kenya men’s Sevens team head coach, Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) announced Friday afternoon.

Wambua who takes over from Briton Damian McGrath will be deputised by Louis Kisia, while Steve Sewe is the Team Manager.

Lameck Bogonko is the team’s Physio, as former captain Andrew Amonde takes the strength and conditioning coach role.

Chris Brown is the consultant, strength and conditioning coach while Tom Ogweno holds the team liaison position.

The new technical bench will be in charge until the end of 2024 Olympic qualifiers, according to KRU Chairman Sasha Mutai.

Mutai said McGrath’s departure had been on a mutual agreement and pledged to build on the progress made under him.

He added the union was keen to bring more sponsorship partners on board.

The biggest job on Wambua’s hand will be to help return Kenya to the World Rugby Sevens series following its relegation in May
