Ruto appoints ex-police spokesman Owino as KIMC boss

President William Ruto has named former Police spokesperson Charles Owino Wahong’o as the new chairperson of the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication (KIMC).

Owino has also served as the Deputy Director of the Kenya National Focal Point on Small Arms and Light Weapons.

Speaking about his public service, he emphasised his commitment and dedication to duty.

The President’s appointment was made through a gazette notice dated September 27, and Owino is scheduled to assume his role from September 29, with his term extending until October 5, 2024.

His appointment follows the revokation of Kathleen Openda’s appointment.
