Anti-corruption investigators have intensified scrutiny of the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF) after conducting coordinated searches at the home and office of its Chief Executive Officer.
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) said the operation, carried out on Thursday, January 8, forms part of a wider probe into suspected corruption, questionable procurement practices and the accumulation of wealth whose source cannot be satisfactorily explained. Investigators estimate the suspected unexplained assets to be worth about Ksh1 billion, allegedly amassed over a five-year period beginning in 2021.
According to the commission, officers seized documents and other materials during the raid that are considered crucial to advancing the investigations. The inquiry is not limited to the CEO’s current role at NGAAF but also extends to alleged procurement breaches linked to his previous tenure as Head of Procurement at the Kenya Deposit Insurance Corporation (KDIC).
The EACC noted that the official has previously served in several senior public positions, including as Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Council and Deputy Head of Procurement at the Competition Authority of Kenya, roles that are now also coming under review as investigators piece together his financial and professional trail.
The commission says further action will be guided by the outcome of the ongoing investigations.
