Detectives in Kiambu County have launched an investigation into the shocking murder of a 21-year-old delivery man whose body was discovered early Sunday outside his home in Ruaka.
The victim, identified as Douglas Abutsu, was well known in the area for running a small local delivery business. His body was found in the Sir Rueben area with deep cuts to his palm, abdomen, back, and shoulder injuries police described as “brutal and deliberate.”
According to witnesses, two women were seen arriving at Abutsu’s house at around dawn. They reportedly called out for him several times before he answered, saying he was on his way to meet them. Minutes later, residents heard a disturbance outside the compound. When they rushed to the scene, they found Abutsu lying motionless, bleeding heavily.
The assailants are believed to have fled immediately after the attack. Police officers later arrived at the scene, documented the incident, and transferred the body to a nearby mortuary for post-mortem examination.
So far, investigators have not established a clear motive behind the killing. However, detectives say they are pursuing several leads that could help identify the two women and anyone else involved.
The murder has left residents of Ruaka shaken, with many describing Abutsu as a hardworking and friendly young man trying to make a living through his small business.
Police are urging anyone with information about the suspects or the events leading to the attack to come forward as the probe continues.
