A night of drinking at a Kilimani apartment ended in tragedy after a man died in a fall from the 14th floor, prompting a full-scale police investigation.

The incident occurred at a residential building along Kindaruma Road, where the man had checked in with his 48-year-old girlfriend on November 28 for a weekend stay. According to police, the couple spent Saturday drinking inside the apartment, later joined by a male friend who stayed until the early hours of Sunday before leaving.

What began as a casual get-together reportedly escalated into a violent confrontation. Investigators say an argument broke out between the couple shortly after their friend left. The dispute turned physical, with the man allegedly assaulting the woman. In the midst of the altercation, the woman is accused of pushing him over the balcony.

Guards and residents were startled by a loud crash at the parking lot below, only to discover the man lying lifeless on the roof of a salon car, with severe injuries indicating he had died on impact.

Inside the apartment, police recovered several used alcohol bottles and what they described as assorted drugs. The girlfriend, who claimed she slept through the night unaware of the fall, was arrested and is set to appear in court as detectives seek additional time to investigate.

Authorities have classified the case as suspected murder and are also searching for the male friend who was present earlier, saying his account will be crucial to piecing together the events that unfolded before the fatal fall.

Police note that similar tragedies have increasingly been reported in high-rise apartments hosting private parties.
