A wave of violent incidents and fatal accidents reported across the country over the weekend has left several families grieving, as police launch multiple investigations.

In Nairobi’s Riruta area, tragedy struck on Saturday morning after a man allegedly attacked people inside his house during a confrontation. One woman was fatally stabbed, while a second woman and her 15-year-old daughter sustained serious injuries. The incident occurred in Ngando village, where the victims were said to be neighbours of the suspect within the same residential plot. The injured pair were rushed to hospital with wounds to the head and hands. The suspect fled the scene, and police say the motive behind the attack remains unclear as efforts to trace him continue.

Elsewhere in Kisumu County, a domestic dispute turned deadly in Katito after a disagreement over land reportedly escalated into violence between siblings. A 32-year-old man, identified as Michael Onyango, was assaulted by his brothers inside his home and later died while receiving treatment in hospital. The attackers escaped, and police have moved the body to the mortuary pending a post-mortem as investigations continue.

In Naivasha, Nakuru County, a 34-year-old man, Paul Mabiri, succumbed to injuries sustained during an altercation with his wife. The incident occurred on January 16, and the woman has since been arrested as police pursue murder investigations.

Police in Nakuru also confirmed the arrest of a suspect linked to a murder that took place in January 2023 in Gatanga, Murang’a County, with the arrest made in the Menengai area.

Meanwhile, a road accident in Naromoru, Nyeri County, claimed the life of a four-year-old French child. According to police, the crash occurred on January 17 when the driver of the vehicle the child was travelling in attempted to overtake other cars. Four other French nationals sustained injuries in the crash, alongside five occupants of a Kenya Wildlife Service vehicle involved in the accident. All the injured were taken to hospital, and investigations are underway.

In another disturbing incident in Nyeri County, the body of a 35-year-old man, Paul Waithaka Kabuu, was discovered in Chinga area bearing injuries believed to have been inflicted by a wild animal. Police said the body had puncture wounds on the head and a bite mark on the right thigh, pointing to a possible animal attack.

Authorities say they are intensifying investigations into all the incidents as communities grapple with the spate of violence and accidents reported over the weekend.
