At least 28 passengers were injured after a long-distance bus was involved in a serious collision along the Nairobi–Nakuru highway in Nakuru County early Monday morning.
The accident occurred at the Salgaa area when an Easy Coach bus, travelling from Nairobi to Kisumu, slammed into a trailer under circumstances that are yet to be established.
Rescue teams arrived at the scene shortly after the crash, with emergency responders working swiftly to assist the injured. The Kenya Red Cross confirmed that 12 passengers suffered critical injuries and were taken to nearby medical facilities, while another 16 received first aid at the scene.
A coordinated response involving multiple agencies facilitated the rescue operation and the clearing of the wreckage. The damaged bus was later removed from the road and taken to Kaptembwo Police Station for inspection.
Police have since opened an investigation to determine the cause of the crash as traffic flow along the busy highway was restored.
