Safaricom has announced the first batch of enterprise winners in the ongoing Shangwe @25 nationwide promotion. As part of its 25-year celebrations, the company has awarded 10 businesses with Bajaj tricycles, another 10 with stock worth KES 250,000 each, and six large enterprises with KES 500,000 each to support their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
During the inaugural handovers, Sakifarm Limited, Millys the Redbeet Fresh Mart, Tito Busienei Koiyet, Federico Investment, and Carrix Media Group Limited received brand-new Bajaj tricycles to support logistics operations, including stock transportation and deliveries.
Elijah Sawe, CEO of Sakifarm, an avocado grower and exporter highlighted how Safaricom Business solutions have improved their operational efficiency and strengthened engagement with farmers.
“We use at least four solutions from Safaricom Business. The most important is bulk SMS, an automated process we use for our 300 farmers, enabling us to make over 100 payments daily during peak season. These solutions have helped us build trust with farmers, remain competitive, and reduce human resource costs,” said Sawe.
Safaricom also awarded stock worth KES 250,000 to EBEE Mobility Kenya Limited, Leonard Oongo, Justus Kiprono Koros, and Taifa Sacco Limited. The restock support aims to ease cash-flow pressures and strengthen inventory levels during the festive period.
In addition, Vivo Fashions, Moringa School, the European Union, and the United Nations Federal Credit Union each received KES 500,000 to boost their ongoing CSR projects.
Nikki Germany, CEO of Moringa School, appreciated the CSR support, noting its impact on youth and digital skills development.
“We are delighted to receive this contribution from Safaricom as it strengthens our mission to equip young people with market-ready tech skills. It allows us to expand training opportunities for learners who would otherwise not access such programmes. Empowering youth is ultimately empowering the future of our economy.”
Speaking during the handovers, Safaricom Acting Chief Enterprise Business Officer, Frankline Okata, affirmed that the promotion reflects Safaricom’s commitment to empowering businesses that drive Kenya’s economic and social development.
“As we mark 25 years, our priority is to honour the entrepreneurs and organisations that power Kenya’s growth every day. Our goal is to support businesses that create jobs, drive innovation, and uplift communities. When businesses thrive, our nation thrives, and Safaricom will continue walking that journey with them.”
Enterprises can participate by buying, renewing, or reactivating any Safaricom Business service whether voice, internet, IoT, cloud, cybersecurity, or M-PESA for Business. Each transaction earns one entry. Winners will be announced weekly throughout the eight-week promotion, which runs until January 19th
