Kenya has begun diplomatic preparations in earnest ahead of the upcoming Africa–France Summit, with Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi launching an official working visit to France marked by a series of strategic meetings in Paris.
The visit opened with intensive consultations bringing together Kenya’s diplomatic teams based in France, including officials from the Kenyan Embassy in Paris and the Permanent Mission to UNESCO. The sessions were convened to streamline Kenya’s agenda and ensure coherence in its engagements with France and other African partners.
Led by Ambassador Jane Lusenaka, Kenya’s Deputy Ambassador and Chargé d’Affaires in Paris, alongside Ambassador Prof. Peter Ngure, Kenya’s Permanent Representative to UNESCO, the meetings focused on mapping out clear priorities, firming up expected outcomes, and coordinating next steps ahead of the continental summit.
Mudavadi emphasized that the engagements were practical in nature, aimed at translating diplomacy into tangible results. He noted that the discussions helped sharpen Kenya’s messaging and strengthened coordination across its foreign missions.
The Africa–France Summit is expected to convene African heads of state and French leadership to deliberate on shared challenges and opportunities, including economic development, peace and security, climate response, and reforms in global governance structures.
In his remarks, Mudavadi underscored the importance of France as a long-standing and strategic partner to Kenya, citing cooperation in trade, investment, education, culture, climate initiatives, and multilateral diplomacy. He added that the Paris engagements reaffirmed Kenya’s commitment to advancing its national interests with focus and unity on the international stage.
