A man accused of assaulting a woman in Kamakis, Ruiru Sub-County, will remain in police custody for 14 days as detectives continue investigating the incident.
Isaac Ochalo was arrested a day before he appeared in court and was subsequently charged with assault causing bodily harm. He denied the allegations and pleaded not guilty.
Ruiru Police Commander Charles Kibathi said investigators were granted permission by the court to detain Ochalo for 14 days to facilitate further investigations and interrogation.
The suspect will be held at Gatong’ora Police Station during the period.
Police reports indicate that the alleged victim, Teresia Wambui Wairimu, a resident of Thika Town, was assaulted on Sunday evening while visiting her cousin in Kamakis.
Wairimu told police that she arrived at her cousin’s residence at around 6pm. She alleged that shortly after arriving, her cousin’s husband, identified as Isaac Gatuthu Ocharo, attacked her.
The investigation is expected to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged assault as police continue questioning the suspect and gathering evidence.
