Detectives in Mombasa have arrested a Tanzanian couple in connection with a suspected syndicate targeting passengers travelling by long-distance buses between Nairobi and Mombasa.
The suspects, a 52-year-old man and his 47-year-old partner, were arrested following investigations into a September 18 incident involving a Dreamline bus passenger.
According to the DCI, the passenger was allegedly drugged by a person seated next to him during the journey. He later regained consciousness at Tudor Sub-County Hospital and discovered that his bag and other belongings were missing.
A report at Makupa Police Station prompted detectives to begin tracing those behind the incident.
Using forensic leads, investigators tracked the suspects to a house in Magongo, Mombasa, where they were subsequently arrested.
