Former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s office has cautioned Kenyans against misleading social media accounts claiming to represent him, his family or his political engagements.
In a statement issued on Tuesday through his spokesperson, Kanze Dena Mararo, the Office of the 4th President of the Republic of Kenya clarified that it maintains only two authorised social media platforms for official communication.
The office identified the accounts as Facebook and X, formerly Twitter, both operating under the handle @4thPresidentKE.
On Facebook, the official page is listed as Office of the 4th President of the Republic of Kenya, while the X account bears the name Office of the 4th President of Kenya. Both use the same official username.
The clarification follows the presence of several online accounts claiming to be associated with the former Head of State, with some sharing information about his political activities and other personal matters.
The existence of these accounts, some of which have circulated unverified information, has raised questions about the authenticity of platforms claiming to communicate Uhuru’s positions and activities.
The office also stressed that Uhuru, former First Lady Margaret Kenyatta and their children do not maintain personal social media accounts, urging the public to distinguish the authorised platforms from other accounts operating in their names.
