Government extends University scholarship application.

Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) Ezekiel Machogu has announced that the application deadline for university students seeking funding for their higher education has been extended.

“The period for applying for loans and scholarships, which was initially set to conclude on September 7, 2023, has now been prolonged until October 7, 2023” he said.

According to the Ministry of Education, the requirement of an Identity card has also been waived and students who are below the age of 18  can apply for funding from the Higher Education Loan Board (Helb). Universities have also been urged to give students more time as the government processes funding for the students.

Machogu added that as of  September, 5, a total of 156,5322 students had applied for both Universities Fund Scholarships and Helb loans, translating to 60 percent of students placed by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS).
