The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has summoned 30 individuals – including Mavoko MP Patrick Makau – over the Portland land demolitions.

In a statement dated October 17, 2023, the DCI says it believes the said individuals have information that may assist with investigations into the saga that saw hundreds of Kenyans duped in land fraud.

The DCI believes that some of the individuals who have seen their property on the land in question demolished were innocent buyers who fell victim to fraudsters.

“Due to the magnitude of the Portland PLC matter, which involves significant personal losses for potentially innocent victims of land fraud and the swindling of millions of shillings, the DCI has established desks at the Athi River Police Station to collect relevant information and evidence that will aid in the investigations,” DCI Deputy Director Ireri Kamwende says.

Among those summoned by the DCI include the Aimi Ma Lukenya Society officials namely; Julius Mutie Mutua (chairperson), Pascal Kiseli Basilio Mungui (Treasurer), Alex Kyalo Mutemi (Secretary) and Jonathan Mutisya Muinde (Organising Secretary.

Also summoned are former Mavoko deputy county commissioners David Ouma and Geoffrey Omondi, and former Mavoko OCPDs Kizito Mutoro, Sharma Wario and Samuel Mukuusi.

Former Mavoko DCIOs Joseph Mumira, Martin Korongo and Vincent Kipkorir, Athi River Location Chief Cecilia Mbete Nzioka, and Registrar of Lands officials Charles Kipkirui Ngetich, S.C Njoroge and G.G. Gachihi have also been summoned by the investigative agency.

Others — who are expected to report to the Officer in Charge of Land Fraud Investigations Unit at DCI Headquarters on Wednesday, October 18 — are; Mutua Kathungu, Wilson Munguti, Ben Muemi, Omar Shurie, Ben Mulei, NicodeMus Mulei, Anthony Muthoka, Titus Munywoki, Philip Kilonzo, Chris Ougo, members of Kitanda na Mbusya Society, as well as the directors of Nyambogi Society.
