The DCP Party Leader Rigathi Gachagua has passionately rallied the people of Mbeere North in Embu County to support Newton Kariuki as their next Member of Parliament in the upcoming by-election.

He emphasized that Newton Kariuki is the only candidate capable of providing effective oversight of the government.

Speaking at A.C.K Mbeere North Diocese Church during a church service, Gachagua endorsed Newton Kariuki, highlighting that he had stepped down his own candidate for the sake of unity among the people of Mbeere.

Drawing parallels to the 1994 Kipipiri by-election, Gachagua urged the residents of Mbeere to emulate the Kipipiri voters who defied pressure and used their votes to elect a DP candidate against a candidate backed by former President Moi.

He recounted how, despite efforts by Moi’s government, including police intimidation and offering incentives, the Kipipiri electorate remained steadfast in their choice.

Gachagua also criticized President William Ruto for disrespecting leaders from Mbeere North, citing the sacking of former CS Justin Muturi and the subsequent lack of regard shown to him.

He appealed to the people of Mbeere North to demonstrate respect and honor by voting for Newton Kariuki.

Furthermore, Gachagua dismissed the government-backed candidate, asserting that he has no genuine connection or interest in representing the people of Mbeere North.

He condemned the use of brute force and intimidation tactics employed by the government to disrupt his meetings, emphasizing that in a democracy, the majority’s will must prevail, and all voices should be heard.

Accompanied by prominent leaders including Kalonzo Musyoka, Eugine Wamalwa, Lenny Kivuti, and Justin Muturi, among others, Gachagua reiterated his call for unity and urged the people to vote wisely, standing firm against intimidation and undue influence.
