The government has announced a new strategy to ensure farmers across the country receive fertilizer amid a surge in demand. Speaking on the issue, Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe assured farmers that the government is committed to making fertilizers accessible and affordable to boost agricultural productivity.

According to Kagwe, the increased demand has put pressure on distribution channels, but the government has put in place a structured system to streamline supply and prevent shortages. He noted that farmers will now access fertilizer through registered cooperative societies and designated agro-dealer outlets to ensure transparency and efficiency.

Additionally, the government is working with manufacturers and importers to increase supply and stabilize prices, allowing farmers to continue with their planting season without disruption.

Kagwe urged farmers to register with agricultural offices to benefit from subsidized fertilizer, emphasizing that only registered farmers will be eligible for government support. He reassured them that measures are in place to curb hoarding and illegal reselling of fertilizer.

With the planting season underway, the government has pledged to continue monitoring the situation to ensure all farmers receive the necessary support to enhance food security in the country.
