Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua has lauded Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka for what he terms as unmatched political patience and strategic growth, arguing that the seasoned politician is now ripe for the presidency.

Speaking on Citizen TV, Wambua emphasized that Kalonzo’s long-standing role as a kingmaker is coming to an end as he prepares to step forward and claim the top seat himself. “For the longest time Kalonzo has been supporting other presidential candidates. Even in the 2022 elections, he was not a running mate, but his loyal supporters supported Raila Odinga and voted in bigger numbers than what he got from Nyanza,” Wambua said, highlighting the strength of Kalonzo’s grassroots backing.

According to Wambua, Kalonzo’s decision to throw his hat in the ring marks a shift in the country’s political dynamics, particularly within the opposition. “If there is a leader in Kenya who can send Ruto home in 2027, it is Kalonzo,” he declared, framing the Wiper leader as the most viable contender to challenge President William Ruto’s re-election bid.

Kalonzo has reportedly been in talks to form a formidable coalition that cuts across Kenya’s political divides. While details remain under wraps, insiders suggest the coalition may include key figures such as Narc Kenya’s Martha Karua, DAP-K’s Eugene Wamalwa, and even former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua hinting at a realignment that could redefine opposition politics.

Despite his ties with these heavyweights, Wambua insists Kalonzo’s presidential ambitions remain undeterred. “Kalonzo’s eye on the presidential race will not be deterred by his camaraderie with equal top leaders in the opposition political front,” he noted, suggesting a recalibration of roles and relationships within the Azimio coalition and beyond.

As 2027 approaches, Kalonzo’s renewed resolve could mark the culmination of years spent in the political shadows poised now to emerge as a frontrunner in the country’s next great electoral contest.
