Kenyatta University has dismissed as false a document circulating online that claims students must pay an extra Ksh10,000 this semester.

In a statement issued on Monday, January 2, the university warned students, parents and the general public that the memo being shared on social media did not originate from the institution. The fake notice alleged that all students were required to remit Ksh10,000 and submit their Semester One 2025/2026 reports by January 28.

University management clarified that there is no fee charged for submitting school or end-of-semester reports and advised students not to send money or disclose personal details in response to the fraudulent communication.

Kenyatta University emphasized that all official announcements are only made through recognised channels, including student email accounts, the KU student portal, the university’s official website and verified social media pages.

“The memo in circulation is not authentic. Kenyatta University has not issued any directive asking students to pay Ksh10,000 or submit reports for the reasons stated,” the institution said, urging the public to remain vigilant against misinformation.
