Police were today engaged in running battles with residents of kiamaiko area who barricaded the Outering road ,rendering it impassible while protesting the killing of a man in the area by the police.
The day-long pandemonium began after a mission to recover an alleged stolen motorbike turned tragic. The police say residents in the area resisted the operation and began pelting the them with stones forcing the officers to open fire.
In the process a man was fatally shot, The chaos spilled over to Outering Road, Juja Road and adjacent roads where the protesters blocked the routes, forcing the police to redirect traffic heading into the zone.
some of the youth took advantage of the chaos and stole from motorists who found themselves in the fracas.
