Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has moved to reassure the public and international guests that Kenya is fully prepared to host the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN), promising top-tier security and smooth logistics for the continental event.

Speaking after touring Kasarani and Nyayo stadiums alongside Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya, Murkomen said all necessary security and immigration systems are in place to ensure a successful tournament.

“With over 18 African countries expected to participate, CHAN 2025 will be a defining moment for Kenya a chance to showcase our capabilities, our hospitality, and our readiness to host major international events,” said Murkomen.

The Interior Ministry has rolled out an extensive security framework, including high-tech CCTV installations at all match venues, controlled entry points to manage fan traffic, rapid emergency response units, and an increased presence of trained security officers.

“These measures are designed to ensure everyone from players and officials to fans feels safe throughout the tournament,” Murkomen said.

On immigration, the CS confirmed that systems have been upgraded to facilitate faster visa processing and reduce congestion at border points. He noted that coordination between security and immigration departments would ensure smooth entry for all CHAN teams and delegates.

“We’ve fine-tuned our processes to minimize delays at airports and other points of entry. This is part of our broader plan to give visitors a seamless experience from the moment they arrive,” he added.

Murkomen also called on Kenyans to turn out in large numbers, not only to cheer on teams but also to help present Kenya as a warm, united, and welcoming nation.

“Let’s show our true Kenyan spirit friendly, helpful, and proud. If you see a visitor lost or confused, offer guidance. Let’s make them feel at home. This is our moment to shine as a host nation,” he urged.

With CHAN 2025 on the horizon, Kenya’s preparations are in full swing on the pitch, in the stands, and behind the scenes.
