Security agencies in Kwale County have intensified efforts to restore peace in Diani, arresting 120 individuals suspected of being part of the notorious machete-wielding gang known as “Panga Boys.” The operation, which lasted a week, aims to dismantle the criminal network that has been instilling fear among residents.
Authorities have already taken 63 suspects to court, while 33 others remain in custody as police seek 14 more days for further investigations. Another 16 suspects are set to appear in court on Monday.
During the operation, security officers confiscated seven machetes, believed to have been used in criminal activities, along with 18 rolls of bhang and multiple mobile phones.
Msambweni Sub-County police commander Robinson Lang’at affirmed that the crackdown will continue until the gang is completely neutralized, ensuring the safety of residents and restoring law and order in the region.
