Geoffrey Ruku and Hanna Wendot Cheptumo have been approved by the National Assembly to join President William Ruto’s Cabinet as CS for Public Service and CS for Gender, respectively.

Their appointments come as part of a broader shake-up that saw former Public Service CS Justin Muturi ousted following a fallout with the president.

The two were vetted earlier this week by the Committee on Appointments, where they were grilled on their past leadership roles and how they plan to steer their ministries forward.

Meanwhile, another of Ruto’s nominees Stephen Isaboke faced resistance from the ICT Committee, which recommended that he be reassigned to a different role due to a conflict of interest, despite his nomination as ICT Principal Secretary.

Isaboke’s reassignment and Muturi’s exit point to growing tensions within the Cabinet, with Ruto demanding stronger accountability and alignment from his appointees. Muturi was dropped after allegedly questioning on abductions, Although president Ruto pointed out dereliction of duty.

The incoming CSs are expected to be sworn in shortly and will assume office at a time when performance, loyalty, and public trust are under sharp national scrutiny.
