President William Ruto has boldly declared his readiness to face the electorate in 2027, emphasizing that he is prepared to accept the will of the people if he falls short of meeting their expectations.
During his visit to Nyeri County on Saturday, Ruto told residents in Othaya that he would honor their decision at the ballot box come the next General Election. He reaffirmed his commitment to delivering on his promises before seeking re-election.
“Tumekuja kupanga mambo ya watoto wetu; tuwachane na siasa ya kubishana, tufanye kazi. Mambo ya siasa yako na siku. Si mlitupatia kazi? Si kila mtu ako na yake? Si wakati wa mtihani utafika? Mimi nimejenga barabara, nimetengeneza kilimo… ikifika wakati wa kusahihisha mtihani, mimi niko tayari… nikipita mtihani yenu, sawa, nisipopita mtihani yenu, mimi naenda nyumbani kulima,” he stated, urging Kenyans to focus on development rather than political rivalry.
As part of his itinerary, Ruto inspected several government projects that are set to significantly impact Nyeri County. Among the ongoing initiatives are the 468-unit Ruring’u Affordable Housing project in Nyeri Town and the Ruring’u Stadium. Additionally, the president launched the Ksh. 325 million Othaya Modern Market project, which will feature 1,000 stalls, cold rooms, and ICT hubs, aimed at boosting local business.
