Rescue operations at the site of the collapsed building in Eastleigh, Nairobi, have yielded three more bodies, raising concerns among families who have been waiting for nearly two weeks to establish the fate of their missing relatives.
Two bodies were located late Wednesday night, while another was discovered at around 6:30 am on Thursday, November 5. Rescue personnel were still working to retrieve the remains from the debris.
The latest recovery comes on the 14th day of the search operation, with relatives of those reported missing continuing to camp near the scene in the hope of receiving updates on their loved ones.
This follows the recovery of two female bodies on Sunday and Tuesday. Their identification is expected to take place at the Nairobi City Mortuary on Thursday.
Families who believe the recovered bodies could be those of their missing relatives have been urged to visit the mortuary for post-mortem examinations and DNA profiling to establish their identities.
Earlier assessments by rescue teams indicated that at least 10 people could still be trapped in the building’s basement, prompting emergency responders to intensify efforts to reach the lower sections of the collapsed structure.
So far, four people have been pulled out of the rubble alive.
The multi-storey building came crashing down on October 23, 2026, at approximately 1:00 pm, triggering a search and rescue operation that has now stretched into its second week.
