Kachien village in Kasipul constituency is today (Friday) the scene of a high-security operation as preparations conclude for the burial of the late Member of Parliament, Charles Ong’ondo Were.
In a bid to ensure a peaceful and dignified farewell, Homa Bay County Commissioner Moses Lilan has appealed to residents to maintain calm throughout the event. The Commissioner spoke after chairing a security meeting in his office, where he addressed growing concerns about possible disruptions.
Authorities have reportedly received intelligence that certain individuals may be plotting to incite violence during the burial. Lilan warned that anyone attempting to cause chaos will face arrest and legal action.
He emphasized that security agencies have deployed comprehensive measures to protect mourners and uphold order during the ceremony. The commissioner stressed that the community bears a collective responsibility to honor the late legislator’s legacy with a respectful and peaceful send-off.
