Tragedy Strikes Indian Tourists in Nyandarua Road Accident

A tragic road accident in Nyandarua County has claimed the lives of five tourists of Indian origin and left many others injured. The incident occurred at Gichaka village along the Nakuru–Ol Joro Orok road as the group was traveling from the Maasai Mara to Nyahururu.

According to reports, the tourists were on board a mini bus that experienced brake failure while descending a steep hill near the Ol Joro Orok area. The driver, in an attempt to navigate a sharp corner near Uhuru Comprehensive School, lost control of the vehicle. The bus veered off the road, rolled multiple times, and eventually came to a stop in a nearby potato farm its roof torn off in the process.

Nyandarua County Police Commander, Stella Cherono, confirmed that five people died on the spot. Emergency responders rushed the injured to multiple medical facilities, including Nyahururu County and Referral Hospital, St. Benedict Hospital in Nyahururu, and hospitals in Nakuru.

Medical teams at Nyahururu County Hospital worked urgently to stabilize victims suffering from various degrees of trauma and injuries.

Authorities report that 25 tourists have so far been accounted for, and investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing.
