Tensions in Machakos County have escalated as Muthwani Ward MCA Dominic Maitha has renewed his threat to initiate an impeachment motion against Governor Wavinya Ndeti. Accusing her of nepotism, illegal hiring, and corruption, Maitha insists that the governor’s time in office is running out.
Speaking at Mlolongo Chiefs’ ground during a bursary issuance event, Maitha declared, “Since you have refused to listen to us, next week I will sponsor an impeachment motion against you.”

Joined by fellow MCAs Daniel Ndwiki and Francis Kavyu, Maitha criticized Wavinya’s handling of the county budget, claiming that recurrent expenditures have skyrocketed to 60%, far above the recommended 35%. “We cannot watch as county resources are squandered,” he said, calling for immediate accountability.

The MCA further accused the governor of ignoring advice from the county assembly regarding unnecessary hires, which he claims are bleeding county finances dry. He also took issue with the controversial Machakos Youth Service (MYS), initially budgeted at Ksh.800 million, arguing that it is operating without proper legislative oversight.
In a political twist, Maitha alleged that Wavinya is now plotting to unseat County Assembly Speaker Ann Kiusya to consolidate power—a move he warned could backfire. “If Wavinya thinks she can remove the Speaker, she should think again. The first one to leave office might just be her,” he remarked.
As the political showdown unfolds, residents are left wondering: Wavinya must go…but go where?
