Motorists across the country are set to benefit from lower fuel costs after the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) revised downward the prices of petrol and diesel in its latest monthly pricing review effective June 15, 2026.
Under the new pricing schedule released on Sunday, the cost of petrol has been reduced by KSh0.22 per litre, while diesel has registered a more significant drop of KSh10 per litre. The price of kerosene remains unchanged.
In Nairobi, motorists will now pay KSh214.03 per litre of petrol, KSh222.86 for diesel, and KSh191.38 for kerosene during the current review period.
EPRA attributed the pricing adjustments to recent tax measures introduced by the government, including a temporary reduction in Value Added Tax (VAT) on petroleum products. The VAT rate was initially lowered from 16 per cent to 13 per cent before being further reduced to 8 per cent under revised tax provisions.
According to the regulator, the updated fuel prices incorporate all applicable taxes and levies as provided under existing legislation, including amendments introduced through recent finance and tax laws.
The authority also confirmed that resources from the Petroleum Development Levy (PDL) Fund will continue to be used to cushion consumers against higher fuel costs during the June pricing cycle.
The latest review is expected to provide some relief to households and businesses, particularly through the substantial reduction in diesel prices, which play a key role in transportation, manufacturing, and other sectors of the economy.
