The Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) has announced plans to revoke the operating licences of 13 courier service providers operating in Nairobi, citing non-compliance with regulatory requirements.
In a public notice issued on June 13, 2025, the regulator warned that the affected firms comprising both international and national operators have just seven days to address their compliance issues or face deregistration.
The notice, published in the Kenya Gazette, stated:
“Pursuant to the Kenya Information and Communications Act (Cap. 411A), the Communications Authority of Kenya intends to revoke the postal licences of the following service providers within seven days from the date of this Gazette Notice.”
Among the international courier companies facing licence cancellation are Afrasia Courier Express, Courier Plus Logistics, Rioma Courier Services Limited, and Delta Handling Services. These companies are involved in cross-border parcel and document delivery.
Also on the chopping block are nine national courier operators: Crucible Investment, Ultimate North, Cilantro Solutions, Classic Luxury, Diamond Parcel Limited, EMD Solutions Company Limited, Four M Africa Limited, Eve on the Move Limited, and Garvins Logistics. These firms primarily operate within Kenya, handling domestic logistics and parcel deliveries.
Courier services are a vital part of Kenya’s communication and logistics infrastructure, responsible for transporting parcels, documents, and goods both locally and internationally. The looming licence revocations underscore the CA’s commitment to enforcing compliance and maintaining standards in the sector.
The authority has not specified the exact grounds for each revocation but emphasized that affected companies risk being shut down unless they swiftly take corrective action.Tools
