Public Service, Human Capital Development and Special Programs Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku has brushed off criticism over his involvement in Mbeere North politics, insisting that his visits to the constituency are strictly about development, not electioneering.

Addressing residents at Mbarwari Secondary School in Muminji Ward, Ruku said no amount of political mudslinging would deter him from fulfilling his mandate.

“My work is to take development to Kenyans, and that’s what I will continue doing. Criticism will not stop me,” he declared.

Ruku, who once represented Mbeere North in Parliament, openly drummed up support for United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate Leonard Wamuthende ahead of the constituency’s upcoming by-election. He described Wamuthende as the right choice to secure continuity in government projects and align the constituency with President William Ruto’s administration.

“For Mbeere North to unlock real progress, we must walk with the national government. Wamuthende represents that vision,” he said.

The CS also used the platform to remind locals of his record of fairness during his tenure as MP, particularly in distributing education bursaries.

“I never discriminated along clan lines. Education is the equalizer, and I ensured everyone had access,” he told the gathering.

He further outlined key projects already underway in the region, including the upgrade of the Gikuyari–Muminji–Kirie–Ishiara road, the Kiambeere Mega Water Project, and eight ongoing electrification initiatives. Ruku also revealed that President Ruto is set to commission the Kiambere Dam Bulk Water Project a landmark development expected to ease water shortages in Kiambere, Muminji, and Evurori wards.

“This project will finally put an end to the struggles of water scarcity and improve livelihoods,” he said.

At the same time, the CS cautioned residents against leaders he accused of fanning division for political gain, urging them to rally behind unity and development.
