DCI Director Mohamed Amin has reiterated that all Kenyans regardless of rank or political profile must adhere to proper procedures when raising security concerns, in a pointed response to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s recent claims of an assassination plot.
Speaking to the press on Saturday, Amin appeared to downplay the dramatization surrounding the allegations, instead urging Gachagua to pursue the matter through formal channels.
“If the former Deputy President has an issue in matters concerning the threat to his life and property, he should go and report to the nearest police station and stop engaging in media theatrics,” Amin stated.
His comments come days after Gachagua made public allegations of a plot against his life, sparking concern and media speculation. However, Amin emphasized that such claims, while serious, should not bypass established legal processes.
“Any report, just like other citizens of the country, would be investigated to its logical conclusion,” Amin said. “I associate myself fully with the sentiments of the Inspector General and encourage Gachagua to report the matter to his nearest police station.”
