Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi has been arrested following a major operation by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) targeting alleged financial misconduct in his administration.
The arrest followed simultaneous raids on his official office and private residences in Thindigua and Nairobi, where EACC officers confiscated documents and electronic devices believed to be linked to irregular procurement and misuse of county funds.
Wamatangi has been taken to EACC offices in Nairobi as part of ongoing investigations into graft allegations that have dogged his government for months.
The morning swoop sparked unrest outside his Thindigua home, where locals have gathered shortly after the arrest, demanding accountability and full disclosure from the authorities.
