Kenyans tired of long queues, delays, and overcrowded immigration offices may soon have a reason to celebrate. The government is now taking steps to bring passport registration services closer to the people by moving them to Huduma Centers.
Cabinet Secretary for Public Service and Human Capital Development Geoffrey Ruku made the announcement during an impromptu visit to Huduma Centres in Kiambu and Thika on Tuesday morning. The move comes after widespread public demand for easier access to passport services.

“There is one service which most of the Kenyans come to the Huduma Centers to ask if it is offered, and we will see how we can synchronise with the Ministry of Immigration to ensure passport registration can be processed from the Huduma Centers,” Ruku stated.
Currently, Kenyans are required to visit central immigration offices often facing long waits and logistical challenges. Ruku’s plan aims to decentralize these services, reduce congestion at main offices like Nyayo House, and speed up processing times.
He added that his ministry is working closely with the Department of Immigration to align systems and facilitate the transition smoothly. By listening to citizens and shifting services to more accessible locations, the government hopes to improve efficiency and convenience for all.
