Fresh off a commanding 3-0 win over Zone B titleholders Soccer Assassins, Kayole Starlets are already setting their sights on next season’s top-tier challenge with head coach Mary Adhiambo Busu revealing plans to bring in fresh talent.

The Nairobi-based outfit wrapped up an impressive campaign in the 2024/2025 Women National Super League, finishing top of Zone A with 50 points. Their record 15 wins, five draws, and only one defeat secured them promotion to the premier league with a game to spare. Just a week before their final triumph, the Starlets thrashed Sunderland Samba 4-0 at their Calvary Grounds home turf, sealing their elevation in style.

Reflecting on the season, Adhiambo credited the team’s cohesion and commitment as the backbone of their success.

“It’s been a season of discipline, hard work, and smart preparation,” she said. “We started working early, and that set the tone for how we approached every match. I’m incredibly proud of what the players have accomplished.”

But the coach isn’t resting on her laurels.

With the premier league looming, Adhiambo is looking to bolster her squad to ensure they remain competitive at the top level. While most of her squad is expected to remain, there could be at least one departure.

“We’re in talks with management to identify a few areas where we need to add depth,” she explained. “The core of the team is intact, but to navigate the demands of the premier league, we’ll need reinforcements. Once everything is finalized, we’ll make our announcements.”

As they prepare to take on new challenges, Kayole Starlets are clearly not content with just making an appearance in the top flight they’re aiming to make a mark.
