President William Ruto has expressed Kenya’s readiness to deepen its ties with Ukraine, with particular emphasis on boosting cooperation in education, trade, and agriculture.
Speaking during a bilateral meeting with Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal in Seville, Spain, President Ruto highlighted Kenya’s interest in opening up more opportunities for students through academic partnerships with Ukraine. He said both nations are looking at ways to confront food insecurity and leverage Kenya’s geographic position to facilitate the flow of Ukrainian exports into the broader African market.
“Our dialogue sets the stage for enhanced collaboration not just in food systems and education, but also in ICT and commerce to drive mutual progress,” Ruto remarked.
The meeting happened on the sidelines of the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development, where both leaders underscored their shared commitment to global peace and regional stability. They pledged to work together on peacekeeping efforts, climate action, and sustainable development goals through multilateral platforms.
Ruto also revealed plans for a major investor summit to be held in Nairobi later this year, aimed at attracting green investments and unlocking climate finance partnerships.
