The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has launched the recruitment process for professionals who will assess oral and practical papers during the 2026 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations.
In a notice released on June 30, the examination body called on eligible secondary school teachers and college tutors to apply for the assessment roles, with the application window set to close on July 15.
According to KNEC, successful applicants will undergo on-the-job training during the marking exercise to familiarise them with the council’s assessment procedures and standardised marking guidelines.
The recruitment targets assessors in several specialised subjects, including Power Mechanics, Electricity and Aviation Technology practical examinations, as well as oral assessments in French, German, Arabic and Music.
To qualify, applicants must be actively teaching the relevant subject at either a secondary school or college and have at least three years of teaching experience.
The council said the exercise is aimed at assembling a pool of competent assessors capable of conducting the oral and practical components of the 2026 KCSE examinations in line with established national assessment standards.
