Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has urged Kenyans to keep alive the spirit and values that defined the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s political journey.
Speaking in Kisumu County, Murkomen paid glowing tribute to Raila, describing him as a visionary leader who devoted his life to fighting for democracy, justice, and freedom in Kenya. He said Raila’s contribution to shaping the country’s political landscape would remain unmatched.
“Raila Odinga was a man whose politics were rooted in the struggle to expand rights and freedoms for all Kenyans. Though he is no longer with us, the ideals he stood for should continue to guide this nation,” Murkomen said.
He lauded Raila’s courage and sacrifice, noting that his years of dedication to the nation came at great personal cost. Murkomen called on Kenyans to emulate Raila’s selflessness and commitment to public service, saying the best way to honour his memory is to live by his example.
“The legacy he leaves behind is one of resilience and service. Let it remind us to put the interests of others before our own, to build rather than divide, and to work for the progress of our country,” he added.
Murkomen also emphasized the importance of political unity, saying Raila’s dream of a cohesive and peaceful Kenya can only be achieved through dialogue and cooperation across party lines. He appealed to members of Raila’s ODM party to continue working closely with President William Ruto’s administration in pursuit of national harmony.
