Kenya’s creative economy just got a major lift. StarTimes Media has stepped in with a Ksh 100 million investment, launching a talent search initiative aimed at transforming aspiring entertainers into household names.

Dubbed Next Super Star, the program is more than just a competition it’s a nationwide call to action for young creatives ready to break into film, music, and entertainment. The show premieres May 3, 2025, on Rembo TV and Rembo Plus, promising months of live episodes, midweek highlights, and prize packages topping one million shillings for 18 rising stars.

Speaking at the launch, StarTimes CEO Jimmy Carter positioned the program as a direct response to the government’s Orange Economy strategy, which focuses on empowering youth through arts and culture. High-profile figures including Principal Secretary for Youth Affairs Jacob Fikirini and Kenya Film Commission CEO Timothy Owase also lent their support, signaling strong industry collaboration.

Hosting duties will be handled by comedian Eddie Butita and media powerhouse Amina Abdi Rabar, while King Kaka, Size 8 Reborn, and Motif the Don step in as judges, tasked with guiding contestants to greatness.

“At StarTimes, we believe Kenya’s creative talent is world-class. It’s time to give our young people the stage they deserve,” Carter said, underlining the company’s commitment to building long term opportunities in the entertainment sector.
