Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Hussein Mohammed has revealed that the Kenya vs Gabon World Cup Qualifiers match, held at the 22,000-seater Nyayo Stadium, generated a total of KES 6,498,000 from ticket sales. This impressive revenue highlights the growing enthusiasm for football in Kenya and the strong support for the national team, Harambee Stars.

According to Mohammed, the figures reflect the effectiveness of FKF’s efforts to promote the sport and attract fans back to the stadium. “This is a great step in showing that Kenyan football is alive and thriving. The turnout for the match proves that our people are eager to support the national team,” he said.
The FKF president has been at the forefront of reviving Kenyan football since assuming office, working closely with stakeholders to ensure smooth league operations, better player welfare, and enhanced infrastructure. Under his leadership, FKF has been pushing for corporate sponsorships and government support to improve the financial sustainability of the sport.

Despite the revenue success, some football fans and analysts believe ticket prices should be reviewed to attract even more supporters to the stadium. Others argue that with proper management, these funds should be reinvested into grassroots football development and better facilities for players.
The Harambee Stars’ performance in the qualifiers continues to be a hot topic, with expectations high for the team’s future matches. With the right backing from FKF and continued fan support, Kenya’s dream of reaching the World Cup stage may finally become a reality.
