The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) is set for a crucial Central Committee meeting on Monday, as speculation mounts over a looming Cabinet reshuffle by President William Ruto.

Confirming the development, ODM Deputy Party Leader Abdulswamad Nassir said the meeting chaired by interim leader Oburu Odinga will focus on redefining the party’s course amid internal tension and shifting political alignments.

According to Nassir, the special session will tackle three key issues: preparations for upcoming by-elections, the celebration of ODM’s 20th anniversary in honour of the late party leader Raila Odinga, and an evaluation of the 10-point agreement signed between ODM and the ruling UDA party.

“This will be a moment for reflection and renewal. We will take stock of where we stand as a party, what Raila Odinga stood for, and how we intend to carry that vision forward,” Nassir said in an interview with Citizen TV.

He noted that while the loss of Raila Odinga has left an undeniable void, ODM remains committed to maintaining unity and clarity of purpose. “Our rivals may hope to see cracks within ODM, but this meeting is about solidifying our foundation and moving as one,” he affirmed.

The gathering comes at a politically sensitive time, with whispers of Cabinet changes gaining momentum following President Ruto’s reported pact with KANU leader Gideon Moi, who is said to be joining the government. Analysts remain divided on whether the expected reshuffle signals a consolidation of power or a strategic attempt to balance emerging alliances.

In addition to Monday’s high-level meeting, Nassir revealed that ODM will soon convene a broader forum bringing together all its elected leaders—MPs, Senators, and county representatives to harmonize the party’s position on current political dynamics and reaffirm its ideological path.

“As we chart a new chapter without Baba, we must ensure every member is on the same page,” Nassir said. “This is about continuity, cohesion, and commitment to the ideals that have defined ODM for two decades.”
