Mugithi musician and police officer Samuel Ndiriangu Muchoki, widely known by his stage name Samidoh, has officially been declared a deserter by the National Police Service after failing to return to duty for more than ten days.
An internal memo dated June 9 indicates that the officer, attached to the Anti-Stock Theft Unit (ASTU), was due back at his post on May 27 following an off-duty break. However, authorities report that all attempts to locate him have been unsuccessful.
“Efforts to trace him have been futile. His whereabouts remain unknown,” the memo stated.
As a consequence of his absence without official leave, the police have halted his salary with immediate effect. The notice further directed law enforcement in his home area Gatumbiro, Nyandarua West to locate and apprehend him.
“If found, arrest him and inform this office for appropriate action,” the directive reads.
This development follows recent reports suggesting Samidoh had been transferred from Gilgil to Baringo. The move came shortly after a viral live performance of his hit song Wantam, though no formal explanation for the transfer was provided. Sources within the service hint that the decision may have been connected to that public appearance.
