The National Police Service has announced new traffic arrangements in Nairobi ahead of Friday’s African Nations Championship (CHAN) quarterfinal match between Harambee Stars and Madagascar at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.

To manage the thousands of fans expected to stream into the stadium, police say several roads will be closed temporarily, with diversions set along the busy Thika Superhighway.

According to the advisory, motorists leaving Nairobi’s central business district for Thika, Juja, and Ruiru will be diverted to Kiambu Road through Exit 4, where a roadblock will be placed at Muthaiga. Those travelling towards Mwiki via Thika Superhighway will instead follow the Ruaka–Baba Ndogo–Lucky Summer–Nairobi River–Mwiki route.

Drivers from Thika, Juja, and Ruiru headed into the city centre have been instructed to use either the Northern Bypass or Kiambu Road, with another roadblock mounted at Ruiru Interchange. For Githurai residents making their way to Nairobi CBD, the advised route is through Githurai 44–Kiambu Road.

Fans attending the match without official vehicle access passes will only be allowed to enter Kasarani through the service lanes at Exit 7 and Exit 8.

The police say additional officers have been deployed along key roads to manage traffic and maintain order. They also cautioned motorists against defying the guidelines, warning that violations will attract firm enforcement.
