A somber mood has engulfed Matongo village in Nyamokoroto sub-location, Masaba North, after a night fire claimed the lives of four members of the same family.
The victims a husband, his wife, their daughter, and a three-month-old grandchild were trapped inside their house when the blaze broke out, leaving no survivors.
By Friday morning, the charred remains were still at the scene as police moved in to piece together what happened. Officers have begun taking statements from residents as part of the ongoing investigations.
Local assistant chief Evans Torore confirmed the tragedy, describing it as a devastating loss to the close-knit community.
