President Ruto Declares Seven Days of National Mourning for Raila Odinga

President William Ruto has declared a seven-day period of national mourning in honour of the late former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga, who passed away on Wednesday morning in India. During this time, the Kenyan flag will be flown at half-mast across the country and in all Kenyan missions abroad.

Addressing the nation from State House, Nairobi, President Ruto described Raila Odinga as one of Africa’s greatest sons a towering figure whose courage, vision, and dedication shaped Kenya’s democratic journey.

In his televised statement, the President announced that Raila will be accorded a full state funeral, complete with all the honours befitting a national hero.
