President William Ruto has urged Kenyans to recognize their role in safeguarding the country’s security and to uphold the dignity of the military as a pillar of stability and development.
While presiding over the Cadet Commissioning Parade at the Kenya Military Academy in Lanet, Nakuru County, the President delivered a message that went beyond military strength championing patriotism, unity, and shared responsibility as the true foundations of national security.
“True security is a shared duty, and every citizen is a stakeholder,” President Ruto said. “No amount of force, however formidable, can secure a nation on its own.”
He spoke with urgency about the growing risks of careless discourse around military matters, calling on political leaders, the media, and the public to show restraint and responsibility in how they address issues of national defense.
In a firm tone, Ruto declared, “The government will defend the military by all means possible,” stressing the Kenya Defence Forces are not just protectors of borders but the very guarantors of Kenya’s long-term stability and development.
Highlighting modernization efforts, he said the government is equipping and training the military to face modern security threats from digital warfare to transnational crimes with precision and preparedness.
“This is not just about upgrading equipment; it’s about adapting to a changing world,” he noted.
By blending respect for tradition with forward-looking reforms, President Ruto painted a vision of a military that commands honor and a nation that stands solidly behind it.
