President William Ruto has issued a strong warning to a private developer accused of attempting to illegally acquire a public field in Nairobi’s Baba Dogo area, promising swift action to protect community land.

Speaking during an inspection of the ongoing Nairobi River rehabilitation project, the President responded firmly to concerns raised by local leaders and residents over the contested parcel, pledging to personally intervene.

“Tell that person trying to take your field they have three options rethink their plans, back off, or face me directly,” Ruto declared, drawing applause from the gathered crowd. “This field belongs to the people, and I will not allow it to be taken.”

In a decisive move, the Head of State ordered the immediate withdrawal of police officers who had been deployed to guard the disputed plot.

“I’m instructing security officers to leave the premises immediately. This land is public, and it must be protected,” he said. “Not tomorrow now.”

President Ruto assured the youth of Dandora that the field would remain in public hands and announced plans to develop the space into a recreational facility.

“I will personally support the development of a modern sports ground here for the young people. If anyone has an issue with that, they can come speak to me not harass you,” he added.

During the same visit, the President also expanded the government’s ClimateWox programme, which provides green jobs for young people. He announced that the number of youths engaged in the initiative will double from 20,000 to 40,000 starting next week.

Ruto further reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to the Affordable Housing Programme (AHP), committing to scale up ongoing construction efforts to 300,000 housing units nationwide.

Earlier in the day, he launched the rehabilitation of the 3.1-kilometre Savannah–Stage 17 Masimba Road, which cuts through Embakasi West constituency. The President was accompanied by Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja and a delegation of county leaders.
